What are ‘Double-Headers’ and ‘Triple-Headers’?
Historically, F1 events were scheduled on a weekend-on, weekend-off basis, but the growing calendar caused by the increasingly popular sport saw the introduction of double-headers and, in certain instances, triple-headers.
A double-header is a back-to-back sequence of Grands Prix over consecutive weekends, and a triple-header is three consecutive race weekends – circuits grouped by location whenever feasible. In simple terms, this enables more races in the 52-week year.
Meaning of ‘Flyaway Race’
The F1 world championship is a sort of global affair, hosting worldwide championships. Nevertheless, people in F1 must distinguish between events that are in Europe and those that are not- Europeans are engorged with the word ‘flyaway’.
For a European race, all the trains are transported by truck overland, even the cars themselves. For non-European races, there may be different service options, with the paddock being a kind of priority flight as the various races unfold.
All cars are transported by sea and air from race to race for the benefit of the teams on the circuit, supported by an excellent partnership with DHL. For a few flyaway events, a lot of extra equipment is sent by sea months before the race.

How Does The Present Calendar Differ From F1’s Inaugural Championship Year?
The modern-day F1 calendar is very different from the one scheduled for the inaugural year of the world championship in 1950. Then, there were a mere seven events and they were staged from May to September, with six being in Europe – the lone exception being the US-based Indianapolis 500, which most regular F1 drivers avoided.
New European circuits progressively materialized as Formula 1 consolidated, with the first overseas expansion occurring in 1953 as teams traveled to Argentina in South America for the inaugural time. The sport has since been growing in North America, Asia, Australia and the Middle East, with events having been staged in Africa.
